Fouzi Lekjaa: Morocco Holds On to AFCON Title With a Strong Legal Case

Fouzi Lekjaa, president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, has affirmed that Morocco holds a complete legal case to defend its right to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title, stressing that all the facts related to the tournament final are precisely documented through official reports and video recordings.
In remarks given to the newspaper Al Omq, Lekjaa explained that the Senegal national team's withdrawal from the final is established according to the referee's report and the available evidence, which is in line with the regulations of the Confederation of African Football, under which the withdrawing team is considered the loser.
This comes at a time when sporting circles are awaiting the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport, following the appeal filed by the Senegalese Federation to overturn CAF's ruling awarding the title to the Morocco national team.
The Federation president affirmed that Morocco's decision to continue the match was a legal step taken to avoid any potential sanctions, pointing out that its position rests on solid legal grounds that strengthen its chances of winning this dispute.
