Santos Reassures Fans Over Neymar's Injury Ahead of Brazil Call-Up

Rodrigo Zugaib, medical coordinator of Brazilian club Santos, has confirmed that star player Neymar Jr is suffering from a minor injury to his calf, noting that his condition is not a cause for concern and that the current plan is to get him ready as soon as possible.
Zugaib explained, in comments to the website "ge", that the injury is a small edema no larger than 2 mm, which calls for a recovery period of between five and ten days before the player is ready to return to normal training.
The same spokesman added that the goal is to hand Neymar over to the Brazilian Football Confederation in good physical shape, so that he is available to feature with the national team from the 27th of this month, without any restrictions.
Neymar had picked up the injury during the second half of his side Santos' match against Coritiba in the Brazilian league, a game that ended in a 3-0 defeat for his team. He then underwent an intensive treatment program at the "CT Rei Pelé" training center, under the supervision of the national team's medical staff.
Although he could feature in the upcoming match against Deportivo Cuenca in the Copa Sudamericana, his return to competition before joining the national team remains unlikely, as the technical staff is keen to avoid any complications.
Brazilian fans remain optimistic about a swift return for Neymar, especially with major fixtures on the horizon, foremost among them the 2026 World Cup finals.
