Curva Sud Condemn Attacks on AS FAR Supporters in South Africa

The two Curva Sud groups, which support AS FAR, have voiced their strong condemnation of the attacks suffered by AS FAR supporters at the hands of South African security forces, which resulted in injuries of varying severity and cases of fainting among a number of fans, in scenes described as unacceptable and at odds with the values of sportsmanship and the principles of continental competitions.
The Curva Sud expressed their astonishment at the way the Moroccan supporters were treated abroad, considering that what happened contradicts the warm welcome and respect usually extended to foreign fans inside Morocco, which raises questions about the standards applied in managing and securing the presence of supporters during continental matches.
The Curva Sud declared their categorical rejection of all forms of violence and unjustified provocation directed at fans who had travelled to support their team and back the representative of national football, stressing that such incidents harm the image of African sport and damage its values.
The two groups also called on the continental football bodies to open an investigation into the circumstances of these events, to assign responsibilities and to ensure the necessary protection of fans in the various stadiums, while stressing the need to safeguard the dignity of the Moroccan supporter both at home and abroad.
The Curva Sud concluded their stance by expressing solidarity with the injured, wishing them a speedy recovery and a swift return home in the best of conditions.
